    21st Mah Jong Solitaire Rules

Mah Jong Solitaire is a variation of Chinese Mah Jong game. The goal is to remove matching pairs of tiles on the board until the board is empty. Click on a free tile to select it, then click another free tile that matches. A sound is played and the two matching tiles are removed from the board. For each pair you remove you receive points which displayed in your game score. Your game score and time are displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen.

How To Play: Remove all tiles from the board by finding matching pairs of free tiles. Two tiles match if they have the same picture and number. A free tile is one that has no other tiles on top of it, and is unblocked on either its right or left side.

      Game rules for solitaire game:

      • You may eliminate only the tiles which are matching, in pairs.
      • Two tiles are matching if they have the same picture.
      • To win you select matching tiles in pairs until there are no tile left on the screen.
      • You may remove only the tiles which are free and not covered by other tile(s).
      • 21st Mah Jong has two variations of these rules (border and rotation).

      • For solitaire rules: You may remove a tile if it does not have a tile on it's left or right side.
      • For border rues: You may remove a tile if it does not have a tile on it's left, right, top or bottom side.

Hints: Remove the tiles from the top and margins first until you eliminate all tiles from the table. For each pair of tiles removed, the player is rewarded with a bonus.

Rotation: some tiles are rotated. You may remove matching pairs of tiles with one, both or neither tiles rotated. The number of points received for removing a pair is higher when rotation option turned on.

    Mah Jong Solitaire Scoring

The layout rating is only a general guide. A player may find some layouts with higher scores easier than some lower rated layouts.

The points received for removing a pair vary with the layout complexity (rating), selected difficulty and solitaire rules. The number of points received for a pair are calculated based on the difficulty level selected (easy, medium, difficult), layout rating ( 1-5 cats), rule (normal, border) and if tile rotated or upright.

If the player uses the hint option, points will be subtracted from your total score, as a penalty.

For those exceptional completion times you will receive a time score bonus.

The best ten scores are retained in Hall of Fame, if you enter your name after the congratulations images.
